The Ecuador Project
Interested in working with various social services, health, and community development agencies in Ecuador?
Selection and notification of Ecuador Project Participants 2010 will be made by November 25!
The mission of the Ecuador Project is to introduce students to the culture and social issues of the Ecuadorian region through community-based service. The program will provide the opportunity for active participation in the community and direct relationships with Ecuadorian people.
Exploration begins in the Spring Semester Seminars wherein students become acquainted with the history, culture, and challenges facing the region.
The program will explore the rich cultural heritage of Ecuadorians (afroecuadorians, mestizos and Native Americans.) Through a four-week immersion with various social services, health agencies, and community development agencies, students will be invited to reflect on the importance of grassroots movements, social networks, and biodiversity.
Students selected can participate in programs such as:
- Community Development
- Public Health
- Populations At Risk
- Special Education
- Ecotourism and PR Initiatives
