9/11 Weekend of Service: Thank you!

Synergy in Service

Many thanks to all who participated in the 9/11 Weekend of Service!

Over 400 Vanderbilt students, staff, and faculty worked across Middle Tennessee in various community agencies and organizations gracious enough to host 9/11 participants.  Work was done in elementary, middle, and high schools, including gardening, weeding, painting, tutoring, and even some science experiments.  Students managed donation materials at the Nashville Rescue Mission and Second Harvest Food Bank, while others visited senior living facilities, youth agencies, and various additional community partners.  All kinds of meals were made and delivered all over the city, landscaping was done at Radnor Lake, and still other students helped refugee families unfamiliar with the city streets learn to better navigate the bus system.

We cannot express how wonderful it was to witness so many individuals and groups giving their time and energy to improving the community in which they live alongside organizations kind enough to host these projects.

We hope all participants enjoyed the weekend and that those involved found it to be beneficial.  Thank you again!
