why it’s worth dropping by

The house, known as the Community Partnership House (CPH), was built in the late 19th century as a private residence and was later remodeled with its current Spanish-style architecture.  It wasn’t purchased by the university until  much later. Over the years it has served as residence for Chancellors Oliver Cromwell Carmichael and Harvie Branscomb, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, the University Club, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Since 1992, the building has been known as the Community Partnership House and has been home to the Office of Active Citizenship and Service (OACS).  OACS is home to over fifty student service groups and offers a professional staff engaged in solutions to local, national, and international problems through direct, hands-on action.

The building includes several meeting rooms that can be used by student groups as well as a walled garden providing a quiet sanctuary for relaxation.
