MLK Jr. Weekend of Action, January 17th – 20th, 2014

OACS invites you to join the Vanderbilt community in a weekend of action and
reflection as we honor the contributions of Dr. King in seeking justice and
challenging the discourse on civil (dis)obedience. This year we will also
honor the contributions of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela as an example of justice
and equality worldwide.  Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to
join us for projects that address specific community needs through intentional
service and action.

OACS Reflections on Service and Social Justice

Students, faculty and staff that dedicated time to service over the weekend are invited to a reflect with us on their experiences through the lens of our great social justice leaders, MLK Jr. and Nelson Mandela.

12:30-4:00pm Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital We will be working at stations consisting of tables with 2-3 volunteers. Each station will have one of five activities, which are UV Light and Sunprints, Straw Rockets, Cryogenics, Lava Lamps, and Polymer Worm. 11:30-4:30pm MLK Joint Service Day with Belmont, TSU, Trevecca and Vanderbilt MCKISSACK MIDDLE SCHOOL / 2ND HARVEST FOOD BANK / HADLEY PARK / PROJECT C.U.R.E.
