To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King's death, Vanderbilt hosted a special panel including Houston Baker, Richard King, Bob Moses and Ruth Turner Perot to examine Robert Penn Warren’s 1965 book Who Speaks for the Negro?

The panel was part of Vanderbilt University’s “We Speak for Ourselves: A Poet, a Prophet and Voices for the 21st Century” conference on April 4, 2008.
