Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a National Commodore Club member?

In order to receive benefits as a result of your NCC contribution, a $100 minimum donation is required, but all contributions are appreciated. To become a NCC member you can do one of three things:
1. CALL - Call the NCC offices at 615/322-4114 to sign up over the phone with a credit card
2. CLICK - visit the NCC online
3. COME BY - Visit the NCC offices at the McGugin Center on Vanderbilt’s campus at 2601 Jess Neely Drive, Nashville, TN 37212

How does my contribution benefit Vanderbilt student athletes?

The cost of scholarships for our student-athletes comprises almost a third of the entire athletics budget. Your annual contribution to the NCC helps offset these costs as well as other program costs in all 16 sports. Supporting the NCC is the best way to help ALL our student-athletes pursue their academic and athletic ambitions.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Your NCC membership entitles you to certain benefits which include parking passes, the right to buy tickets, and Commodore Nation magazine. The value of these benefits will reduce the tax credit of your NCC gift, in accordance with federal tax regulations. If you wish to receive full tax credit for your gift, please indicate below that you are declining NCC benefits (and please note that by declining, you will not receive parking passes, the right to buy tickets, or Commodore Nation).

What is the deadline for NCC membership?

NCC members who have priority seating and parking for football and/or basketball should always renew before May 31 each year in order to retain their seats and parking privileges. Those members who do not receive benefits from their donation should make their gift prior to the end of Vanderbilt’s fiscal year, which is June 30.

What is the NCC Priority System and how does it work?

The NCC priority system is designed to reward loyalty to Vanderbilt Athletics as well as your level of support. Your NCC priority is based on two criteria. First, the society level at which you give (please refer to the NCC benefits chart to see which society you are in) and second, your lifetime giving to Vanderbilt Athletics. This system is used to determine the allocation of tickets for bowl games, Southeastern Conference, NIT and NCAA Tournaments, special ticket offers and in some cases, parking.

Do I have to make a contribution every year to retain my football and/or basketball seats?

Yes, if you sit in a NCC section in football (sections C, D, E rows 11-39 or the Bridge) or men’s basketball (sections A-E, 2A-2E, F, L) you will be asked to make a contribution each year to retain your seats. To find out which seats are in NCC sections, please refer to the seating chart

How can I get tickets for post-season play?

The Vanderbilt Ticket office and the NCC will use the priority system to determine the allocation of tickets for bowl games and SEC and NCAA Tournament games. Priority is established based on the society level at which you give and your lifetime giving to athletics as well as any additional giving to the sport which is participating in post-season play.

When is the best time to make a gift to the NCC?

Many members choose to make their gift in December so that the contribution can be claimed as a charitable contribution on your tax return. Making a gift in December also allows members to make a NCC contribution and pay for their season tickets several months apart, making it more affordable to obtain tickets, priority seating and parking.
