Napster @ Vanderbilt
Facts/Myths

  Fact
To listen to music, you must be connected to the Internet. You can listen to downloaded tracks without an Internet connection.
The network will not support streaming. Streaming is a key feature of the service. Most of Napster's music will be stored on a server at Vanderbilt to facilitate streaming.
A dial-up connection is too slow to use Napster. The service performs well with a dial-up connection, although faster connections are recommended. If you have a dial-up connection, make sure your settings reflect that. Furthermore, the Napster service offers free downloads, so instead of constantly streaming a song, download it!
Songs cannot be burned onto CD. Tracks can be burned onto CD for as low as 99 cents a track, or purchase entire albums.
I live off campus, so I'm not eligible for Napster. It's yours! All enrolled students are eligible to use the service. Go to Get Started to register for Napster's premium service.
Already downloaded tracks won't work in Napster. They'll work, and are simple to load.
