It’s the time of the year to nominate staff members that have made exceptional performance contributions to Vanderbilt University for recognition through the annual Commodore Awards.
The purpose of the Commodore Award is to recognize and reward significant achievements in Vanderbilt University’s pursuit of excellence in education, health care, research and community service. The criteria for the award includes any person who currently holds a regular full-time staff position below the level of director or department head for at least three years, and is described by one or more of the following:

- An individual who has handled a high impact or critical situation, which had important consequences for Vanderbilt or the community.
- An individual who developed new or improved existing processes that resulted in a significant improvement in productivity and/or cost savings.
The recipients of the award are chosen by the appointed Commodore Award Selection Committee and the recipients will be introduced at the annual Service Recognition ceremony. Each recipient receives a cash award of $5,000 and an engraved crystal bowl.
