Civil rights leader and former NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered the 2011 keynote address.

Winners of the MLK Essay and Oratorical Contest for local middle and high school students read their winning essays during the keynote event.

Vanderbilt students joined members of the Nashville community for the Freedom March to commemorate the life of Dr. King.

The keynote event opened with performances by Vanderbilt student groups Voices of Praise, Victory A Cappella and Jeremiah Generation.
