Sarah Deery, class of 2008. Awarded a Vanderbilt Undergraduate Summer Research Program (VUSRP) stipend to spend the summer of 2007 studying literacy, numeracy and diabetes.
Disha Kumar, class of 2007. Received the Student Research Award from the Society for Pediatric Research for her abstract "'Literacy, Numeracy, and the Pediatric Health Activities Test (PHAT)." Disha presented her research at the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies in May 2007. The award came with a $1000 honorarium.
Beth McKinnon, class of 2007. Received high honors for her honor’s thesis, Patient-Physician Relationship in the Latino Population.
Erika Schneble, graduate student class of 2007. Received the 2006-07 H. Boyd McWhorter Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
Brett Sklaw, class of 2005. Received high honors for his honor’s thesis, The Narrow Approach of Acute Medicine: Diabetes as a Public Health Problem, 1930-1960.
