The Center for Medicine, Health, and Society offers two types of funding opportunities for Vanderbilt faculty and graduate or professional students who are engaged in collaborative projects. Projects that examine health and health care in their social and cultural contexts are eligible. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary groups of three or more individuals.
Collaborative projects between faculty members at Vanderbilt and other institutions will be considered. The project leader must, however, be a tenured or tenure-track faculty member, or have a full-time, faculty-rank appointment.
Exploratory Grants
Up to $1,500 is available to faculty and graduate students who wish to meet regularly to explore the possibility of a collaborative project.
Application Process
Requests for funding will be accepted twice yearly: December 1 and March 1.
Applications should include:
- A brief proposal (2-3 pages) describing the intellectual merits of the project. It should explain specifically how the project examines health and health care in its social and cultural contexts.
- A budget explaining how the funds will be used.
- The project leader’s curriculum vitae and biographical sketches for each of the participants.
Requests will be reviewed by the Steering Committee of the Center for Medicine, Health, and Society.
