Arleen M. Tuchman
(Ph.D University of Wisconsin-Madison), Professor of History; Director of the Center for Medicine, Health, and Society. Research interests include the cultural history of health and disease, the rise of scientific medicine, and scientific and medical constructions of gender and sexuality. Tuchman is the author of Science, Medicine, and the State in Germany  (1993) and Science Has No Sex: The Life of Marie Zakrzewska, M.D. (2006). David L. Boyd (Ph.D. Yale University), Associate Professor of Medicine, Health, and Society; Associate Director, Center for Medicine, Health, and Society.  Research interests include integrative medicine, domestic and international public health, healthcare administration, and the relationship between health and culture.  david.l.boyd@vanderbilt.edu

The membership of the Center for Medicine, Health, and Society is made up of faculty and students from across the University interested in developing cross-disciplinary perspectives on subjects of common interest. Faculty and students from Meharry, physicians from the Nashville community, and others with an interest in the MHS field are also welcome.
