Creative Expression of the Illness Narrative
A. Scott Pearson
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
“For the past seven years, I have taught a course entitled Narrative Medicine: Stories of Illness and the Doctor-Patient relationship. The course is offered through the College of Arts and Science and the Center for Medicine, Health and Society (MHS 220) and predominately attracts those students interested in medicine, nursing, dentistry, and physical therapy in addition to those interested in the business of medicine and healthcare strategy. The intent of this proposal is to place creative expression at the center of a multi-disciplinary curriculum designed to enhance the narrative understanding of future healthcare professionals.”
