Welcome from the Department Chair

Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Vanderbilt University. Our superb faculty, students and visitors from all over the world create a very stimulating and dynamic research environnment. We are a recognized leader in several areas of mathematics including approximation theory, biomathematics, combinatorics, geometry & topology, group theory, noncommutative geometry & operator algebras, PDE's, universal algebra and wavelets.

A variety of seminars, colloquia, workshops, and conferences are organized by faculty every year. We offer a wide range of courses but are small enough for graduate and undergraduate students to receive individual attention from faculty.
