Student Information and Frequently Asked Questions

How can I declare a minor in Managerial Studies?

To declare a minor in Corporate Strategy, Leadership & Organization, or Financial Economics, students should fill out two copies of the form available here: Declaration of Minor Form [PDF]

Professor Damon, Director of the Managerial Studies Program, serves as the minor advisor. Completed forms can be left in the program office (250 Buttrick Hall), for Professor Damon to sign. Once he has signed, students should leave one copy of the form with the Managerial Studies Program, and take the other copy to the student's school's registrar to be entered in to the computer.

I saw that the requirements for my minor changed. Does that apply to me?

Students who entered Vanderbilt prior to the Fall '06 semester have a choice - they can either complete the old requirements or the new requirements for their minor. It does not matter if you declared your minor before or after the change.

Can I still minor in Managerial Studies: Information Systems?

It depends. Although the minor in Information Systems has been officially discontiuned in the '06-'07 Undergraduate Catalog, students who entered Vanderbilt prior to the Fall 2007 semester are eligible to minor in Information Systems. The minor is not available to students who entered Vanderbilt in Fall 2007 or later. The requirements for the Information Systems minor are as follows:
  • ECON 100 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ECON 101 Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECON 150 Economic Statistics (or Math 218 and Math 218L or Math 219)
  • FNEC 140 Accounting
  • CS 101 Programming and Problem Solving

A student can declare a minor in Information Systems through the same process as the other Mangerial Studies minors.

What is the deadline for declaring my minor?

The '06-'07 Undergraduate Catalog states:
