Hope and Help

November 21, 2013

Head and neck cancer patients may need a range of support services during and after treatment, and advice from other survivors and caregivers can be invaluable.

Hope Connection

Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s Hope Connection provides one-to-one telephone support for patients and their families. The free and confidential service connects patients and their families with trained volunteers who have personally experienced the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Through this free and confidential service, individuals are matched with a survivor or caregiver who has experience with the same type of cancer.

Any member of the VICC health care team may make a referral to the Hope Connection or individuals may call (615) 936-8501. For more details, visit www.vicc.org/hope.

Gilda’s Club Nashville

Gilda’s Club Nashville, located at 1707 Division St., provides a gathering place where people with cancer and their families and friends can join in building social and emotional support. Free of charge to everyone, this nonprofit organization offers a range of activities, including gentle movement exercise classes, art and creative expression workshops and support groups for patients with specific forms of cancer.
