Outpatient Unit Expands

June 29, 2012

The recent expansion of the Outpatient Transplant Unit (OTU) at Vanderbilt- Ingram Cancer Center has nearly doubled the number of treatment rooms, provided additional space for consultations, counseling and physical therapy, and allowed for the addition of four new staff positions.

These improvements are facilitating patient care by enabling the clinic to care for additional patients and reducing wait times, said Jan Woodie, R.N., B.S.N., O.C.N., manager of Patient Care Services in the Hematology/Stem Cell Clinic.

The facility will also increasingly be used for nontransplant outpatient treatment of blood cancers, said Madan Jagasia, M.D., director of the Outpatient Transplant Program, which “offers us the ability to extend outpatient facilities to a larger group of patients.”

The newly expanded space opened in February on the 2nd floor of The Vanderbilt Clinic.
