LGBTQI Life says goodbye to Michael Brown and TJ Jourian

Posted on Friday, June 29, 2012 in News.

The close of the academic year brings changes to the LGBTQI Life office.

Michael Brown, associate director of LGBTQI Life, will be leaving the office at the end of June, 2012, to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan.  Brown joined the office in 2009 from Washington University in Saint Louis where he was the Coordinator for LGBT Student Involvement and Leadership. Michael has led a number of initiatives and programs including establishing the annual Out in Front Leadership retreat and serving as the advisor to Lambda Association, Peabody Queeries, and Delta Lambda Phi.

T.J. Jourian will also be leaving LGBTQI Life and his current position as program coordinator to pursue a Ph.D. in Higher Education at Loyola University in Chicago. He will be joining Dr. Mark Engberg’s research team and intends on researching the college impact for transmasculine students of color and how these students formulate a sense of masculinity.

Both staff members will be missed.  We wish them the best of luck in their new endeavors!
