Ramadan Fast-A-Thon by MSA
During the Islamic month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours as an act of submission, solidarity and remembrance. One of the main reasons for fasting is to call attention to those who go hungry every day, not as an exercise of religious expression, but as a fact of life.
Vanderbilt’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) is raising funds for Second Harvest Food Bank. They hope to collect hundreds of dollars by asking non-Muslims (student or not) to try fasting for one day.
At the end of the day, there will be a program on the significance of Ramadan alongside the iftar (fast breaking dinner), which will start at 7 pm at Commodore Ballroom, Student Life Center.
