The PREP Program
“Preparing for leadership and service in a diverse society”
PREP is not an acronym but represents “Preparation for Leadership and Service in a Diverse Society.” The PREP Program is a dynamic collaboration between the Office of Leadership Development & Intercultural Affairs and the
Office of Active Citizenship and Service.
prep program goals
- Develop fundamental leadership skills that enhance students’ effectiveness to lead others on campus and in the community
- Develop an understanding of social justice, diversity, and cultural issues and how those issues relate to leadership and civic engagement
- Develop professional skills and a commitment to civic participation throughout life
prep program structure
Fall 2011
- 8-10 Training Seminars
- 1-2 Professional Development Workshops
- 1 Service-Internship Placement Fair
Spring 2012
- Complete minimum of 60 hours at your service-internship site (average of 4-6 hours per week)
- Meet with mentor minimum of 4 times
- Submit 10 weekly online journal reflections responding to prompts/questions from PREP staff
- Attend 3 monthly dinner discussions and discuss your experiences, accomplishments, and challenges with your peers
