Dr. Mark Cannon

Professor Cannon's research explores potential barriers to adult learning and ways of overcoming these barriers. He is interested in how self-perceptions affect performance and has examined the impact of positive illusions (inaccurate positive self-perceptions) on learning and task performance. Dr. Ellen Goldring

Ellen Goldring's research interests reside in two main areas. One strand centers on understanding and shaping school reform efforts that connect families, communities, and schools. Dr. James Guthrie

Professor Guthrie is a professor of public policy and education with wide experience in the private sector, in government, with foreign nations and international agencies, in public schools, and in higher education. Dr. Pearl Sims is the Director of Vanderbilt University's Leadership Development Center, a center devoted to the personal and professional development of public education and social service leaders. Dr. Marcy Singer-Gabella

Currently, Marcy is a research assistant professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. Her areas of specialization are urban school reform, teacher learning and leadership, and curriculum theory, design, and research. Dr. Steve Baum

During the last six years Steve has served as one of the original design team members for the Principal’s Leadership Academy of Nashville. Its initial meetings with the Dean and faculty members established a growing learning community that now exceeds over 100 educators. His administrative experience with process facilitation and previous work with principals, professors, and community members provides a unique understanding of this collaborative effort. more ...

 

Tom Ward

Tom retired from public school work after serving over twenty years in administration and ten years as a classroom teacher. He has served as principal at all levels of school organization and as Magnet School Administrator, supervising the school choice programs. In addition to Hume Fogg, his leadership and teaching posts have included East Literature Magnet School, Wright Middle School, Brick Church Middle, Caldwell Magnet, and Napier Elementary and Cameron Middle School.  Tom earned his M.Ed. at Middle Tennessee State University and his B.S. at Western Kentucky University. Tom is the director of the Principals' Leadership Academy of Nashville and a program coordinator for the Vision Implementation Program.   more….

Teresa Suarez

Teresa has been with the LDC since 2002. She currently is the Media Services Specialist for the LDC. Her areas of responsibility are technology support, training, and management. Teresa has a master in theological studies from Harvard University. She is a graduate of Belmont University with a bachelors in political science.

Denise Thomas

As Program Coordinator for the Leadership Development Center, Ms. Thomas serves as the Center’s financial and operational manager, coordinating the center’s grant activities.  Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Ms. Thomas worked with The Wackenhut Corporation as Executive Administrator and completed an internship with the State of Tennessee Governor’s Office of Homeland Security in the Operations Department.  Ms. Thomas holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the State University of New York College at Brockport and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
