MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20

Book or Poetry Reading

Description: Enjoy reading with other spouses and explore new ways of reading by interacting with each other.  You are welcome to bring a book, poetry, or an article that you like to share and discuss your thoughts and opinion about the reading

Scrapbooking
Time 1-4 pm
Location: Community Partnership House, located on campus on 24th Avenue Southhttp://www.vanderbilt.edu/map/

Description: Scrapbooking is a way to both display and protect your photographs and memorabilia for yourself and those you love.  You do this by creating albums relating to life events, such as weddings, new babies, holiday celebrations or graduations and travels, such as living in another country or vacations.  We will provide all the necessary supplies, such as scissors, tape, glue, pages to decorate, colored paper, and stickers.  You just bring 10-15 photographs (on glossy paper is best) and any flat keepsakes (such as movie tickets), and you’ll be able to create your own page to take home, as well as learn all about scrapbooking(activities for children will be provided as well).

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21

International Chef
Time: 10am-1pm
Location: KC Potter Center, Located on Campus at Euclid, 312 West  SideRow
Description: This is a great chance to learn how to make new dishes and enjoy the company of your fellow spouses and partners. The instructors will teach dishes from Bulgaria, Japan, and America.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22

Choosing Quality Child Care
Time: 10-11am
Location: ISSS Conference Room 109
Description: “Choosing Quality Childcare”-This presentation will help get you started in choosing quality child care for your child.  In it are suggestions and strategies to use when calling and touring a child care home or center.

World On Wednesdays- “Bridging Vanderbilt University and Nashville’s Newcomers”
Time: 12-1pm
Location: Student Life Center, Lower Level Meeting Rooms
Description: The topic will be “Bridging Vanderbilt University and Nashville’s Newcomers.” Lunch will be provided and the presentation will be in the Student Life Center’s lower level meeting rooms 1 and 2.

Dance Night
Time: 5:30-8pm
Location: Vanderbilt Branscomb Recreation Room, Vanderbilt PlaceDescription: Dance Night – We will be dancing in the Branscomb Recreation Room! Learn to dance in styles native to Bulgaria and Japan. Instructors will to teach you how to dance.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23

Stamp Collecting for International Understanding
Time: 1-2pm
Location: Student Sarratt Center Room 208
Description: Build your knowledge about different stamps. Dr. Sim Hassler will be talking about international stamp collecting. Stamp collecting is a fun way to connect cultures and to start conversations about international stories and events. Participants will look at thousands of old and new stamps from more than 100 countries. Some may want to bring some stamps from their own country. Each person will hear how to start their own collection or become involved in stamp collecting activities and opportunities in Nashville. Enjoy a fun time of looking at stamps — small reflections of and windows on our world.

J-2 Employment Session
Time: 5-6pm
Location: ISSS Conference Room 109
Description: J-2 dependents of J-1 Exchange Visitors may apply to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for work authorization. The workshop gives you an opportunity to learn how to apply for work authorization on a J-2 visa.

International Lens

LocationSarratt Student Center, Sarratt Cinema
Description: International Lens presenting The Mighty Uke The movie will be shown in the Sarratt Cinema. The Mighty Uke is a documentary about the global resurgence of the ukulele in the 21st century. Discover why so many people of different nations, cultures, ages and musical tastes are turning to the ukulele to express themselves. The Ukedelics, Nashville’s own ukulele band, will perform a thirty-minute set following the documentary.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24

Night Out in Downtown http://wildhorsesaloon.com/
Time: 5:30-9pm
Location: Downtown. Transportation will be provided by ISSS. Meet us in front of the Student Life Center Building at 5:30pm for the ride.
Description: Line Dancing at the Wildhorse Saloon. Join us in downtown Nashville for a fun night out. We will begin at the Wildhorse Saloon for line dancing lessons. Stay for more line dancing or explore the boot stores & honky tonks (country music bars).  Please note in your RSVP if you need transportation
