Vanderbilt University has over 350 student organizations, providing opportunities to pursue wide variety of interests and activities and meet new people. A Student Organizations Fair is held every fall. It is a great chance to learn more about the fun opportunities at Vanderbilt. ISSS Activities & Events
FIRST FRIENDS is Vanderbilt’s international friendship program, connecting international students with Americans on and off campus for friendship and cross-cultural exchange.
WORLD ON WEDNESDAYS (WOW) takes place every Wednesday, 12:10-1:00 p.m. WOW features a different topic of global interest each week, with presentations by students, staff, and faculty. Past topics have included, “Journey to Japan,” “Crisis in the Ivory Coast.”
INTERNATIONAL LENS, a film series with a global perspective, uses film to promote conversation among the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities. Each semester, an average of two to three films per week are shown in Sarratt Cinema, showcasing a variety of genres, topics, and cultures. All films are free and open to the public.
INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK is an annual initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the U.S.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: ISSS, the Dean of Students, and other departments plan informative, interesting, and fun events throughout the year.
