9:00 am – Social Security Shuttle – If you will be working on-campus and do not have a Social Security Number, ISSS will provide shuttles to the Social Security Administration office.  Sign up at the ISSS office! – Depart from ISSS Office – Student Life Center

10:30-11:30 am – Social Connections for Graduate Students – Making new friends from different cultural backgrounds can be a challenge.  This workshop will guide you through some different communication styles and friendship patterns that you may encounter in your new home.  Sarratt Student Center, Room 189

12:00-1:00 pm – Lunch with Orientation Groups – Student Life Center Ballrooms

1:30 pm - Immunization Station – Nurses will be available to students who have not yet completed their immunization requirements - Student Health Center

11:00 am-5:00 pm – Nashville Bus Tour – This popular annual tour takes you through several hotspots in Nashville! Space is limited, so come to ISSS to buy your tickets.  Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids. – Depart from ISSS Office – Student Life Center

Wednesday, September 3

2:30-5:30 pm – Diverse Dores Community Jamboree – a social event hosted by: Office of Intercultural Affairs, International Student & Scholar Services, Office of the University Chaplain & Religious Life, The Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center, Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center, Project Safe Center, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Intersex Life. These offices focus on supporting and serving Vanderbilt’s diverse students, staff, and faculty. There will be food from Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cart &Knock Out Wings just to name a few, fun activities, and a chance to learn about what resources and programs each office offers for the Vanderbilt community. There are seven offices to visit during the Jamboree. You can start your Jamboree journey at any of the seven offices listed above. If you collect a sticker from each of the seven offices you can win a prize, so make sure to visit them all! This even is open to the entire Vanderbilt Community.

Saturday, September 6

8:00 am-3:00pm – Canoe Trip – Go canoeing on the Harpeth River and enjoy a picnic with friends afterward! Space is limited, so sign up at ISSS.  Cost is $30 per person. – Depart from ISSS Office – Student Life Center – Arrive at the ISSS office at 7:45 am!

Sunday, September 7

2:30-5:00 pm – First Friends Picnic – Only for new First Friend students who signed up prior to August 29th.  Picnic dinner provided.  Participating students must arrive by 2:30 pm for a brief, mandatory orientation. – Fannie Mae Dees Park

Monday, September 8

5:00-7:00 pm – Spouse & Partner Orientation – ISSS invites all spouses & partners of international students & scholars to attend this program.  Learn about available resources from campus and community partners, and meet the ISSS staff and other spouses & partners of Vanderbilt students & scholars. – Student Life Center Meeting Rooms 1 & 2.
