OUR WORKSHOP STAFF

Dany Benshalom

Our lead workshop teacher is well known and widely respected among the dance community in Israel and the western hemisphere. Dany has taught Israeli folk dance seminars for teachers at the Wingate Institute for P.E from 1988 to 2005. Together with his wife Nogah, he runs one of Israel's most popular dance programs in Kibbutz Givat Chayim. He is deeply involved in the preservation and teaching of the oldies as well as in teaching children. Dany serves as the director of the Karmiel 10 day Seminar for Foreign Teachers in Karmiel, Israel (2002 to present). He has won the love and respect of dancers all over the world with his warm and friendly personality, his excellent teaching ability, and his infinite patience.

Ruthy Slann

Our co-teacher is a native of Israel and an avid dancer. She travels in the Southeast US and beyond to teach Israeli Folk Dance workshops for children and adults. She is the assistant course coordinator for the annual Karmiel Summer Course for Foreign Teachers, directed by Dany Benshalom. Ruthy was on the Fred Berk- Blue Star staff 1990-1998. Together with Dany Benshalom, she organized the Karmiel Tour of Israel 1997-2000, and continues to lead tours to Israel with Ronit Nachman. She is cheerful and friendly, and her enthusiasm for dancing can be dangerously contagious.
