EVENTS & MINISTRIES
We seek to integrate faith, learning, and practice through:
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Graduate Christian Fellowship Nights (aka Large Group)
Every other Friday at 6:30, we gather in the basement of Blakemore Church of the Nazarene to enjoy a meal together, listen to a speaker, and pray. Speakers are often professors from various disciplines, Intervarsity staff workers, or community leaders, and topics focus on issues particularly relevant to Graduate Students and Christian scholars. This is always a great night of hanging out with one another and learning together. Please join us! To learn more about Large Group, contact Elizabeth Weber.
Morning Prayer Meeting
Each Wednesday morning from 7:30 to 9 am in Sarratt 114, we meet together to have a time of guided prayer for ourselves, the campus, or the needs of the world. Prayer is a vital part of the Christian life and of the GCF community. All are welcome! To find out more about our prayer meeting, contact Bonnie Surmi.
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Table Talk
Every other Friday at 4 pm, folks gather around a table at Overcup Oak (the pub on campus) and explore together basic Christian theology. Students from all disciplines have lively discussions as we look together at the historic Christian creeds or other foundational Christian doctrines. This is a great time to explore Christianity together, bring questions, and learn from each other about the gospel. To learn more about Table Talk, contact Tish Harrison Warren.
Emerging Scholars Discussion
The Emerging Scholars Discussion meets every other Thursday at JJ’s Market at 6:30 pm. This is a book group, where we read and discuss works about how Christianity relates to the culture, the university, work, and our daily lives. In the past, we have read Andy Crouch’s Culture Makers and George Marsden’s The Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship. For more information on the Emerging Scholars discussion, contact Tish Harrison Warren.
Small Groups
Small group bible studies are a great way to explore the scriptures and form friendships with other graduate students. Small Group has been a thriving and great part of Graduate Christian Fellowship. Please join us as our Small Groups is growing and multiplying. To hear more about Small Groups, contact Jamie Ausborn.
Game Night
The first Friday of every month around 8:30 pm, we have Game Night. Come join us for food and games. Contact Tish Harrison Warren for more information.
