Intramural Registration
Registrations can be completed at the Office of Campus Recreation from 9 am – 5 pm Mon. – Fri. Each house’s vice president will be responsible for assisting the Office of Campus Recreation in promoting and registering teams for both the Commons sporting events and intramural sports. Smoothie King is now open in the Vanderbilt Student Recreation Center.


Steel beams are being erected for the recreation center’s field house and light poles on the Natchez Field are being reconfigured.

The expansion on the southwest corner of the Rec is well underway. This area will host more fitness room space and multi-purpose rooms.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Job opportunities are available for staff assistants, intramural supervisors, officials, tournament coordinators, lifeguards, aerobics instructors and recreation center workers. All positions are paid with flexible scheduling possible. Contact ORC for information.


SPRING BREAK EQUIPMENT RENTALS

You can reserve outdoor equipment from the Outdoor Rec Center, however you must come in person and pay in full with cash, check, or the Vanderbilt Card.  The 10-day price is used for Spring Break.  We also have special days for picking up and returning the gear.

PICK UP GEAR: Wed. Feb. 27 – Fri. Mar. 1

RETURN GEAR: Mon. Mar. 11 – Wed. Mar. 13 (after 3/13 it will be considered LATE)

The ORC is open 3-6 pm on Tues. Wed. and Thurs. and from 12 noon – 6 pm on Fridays and Mondays. The ORC will be closed March 2-10 for Spring Break.

Now hiring Swim Instructors and Lifeguards for Spring / Summer 2013.

Swim Instructors: Swim Instructors are needed for both private and group lessons. Previous experience required.

Lifeguards: Lifeguards are needed for recreational swimming, lap swimming and OCR programs. Duties include opening and closing pool, enforcing pool rules and swimmer safety. Each lifeguard must possess a current lifeguard and CPR-professional rescuer certifications.

Pay is $8.00 per hour

Fitness Center Orientation

Vanderbilt’s Rec Center is currently offering Fitness Orientations to ALL Members on Tuesdays at 3 pm in the Rec Fitness Center.

Please email: todd.suttles@vanderbilt.edu 1 week in advance if you plan to attend.


Fitness Assessments

Fitness Assessments are performed by professional staff of the Rec Center. Appointments for Fitness Assessments must be made at least 24 hours prior. Hours available for Fitness Assessments in the Wellness Resource Center are limited, so honoring appointments is important.

Vanderbilt Swim School is now offering Private Swim Lessons

Private Lessons are offered for ages 2+ and focus on the participant’s needs, ranging from becoming comfortable in the water to improving stroke technique and efficiency. VSS Private Lesson registrations and payments must be received in the Office of Campus Recreation before 12:00 Noon on the Thursday before the upcoming week of lessons. Four 40-minute lessons for $150

CPR/First Aid Classes @ The Rec

: Sunday, March 10th 2013, 4 – 9 pm

Sign up in the Office of Campus Recreation.

Registration: Be sure to register as soon as possible. Class size is limited to 15 participants based on first come, first served and will fill up quickly!

Cost: $120 (Payment is due at the time of registration. Please make checks payable to Vanderbilt University.)
