McTyeire Fireside Chat: “The Arab Spring and its Lessons for Democracy”
Presented by:  Klint Alexander, senior lecturer in Political Science

The collapse of Mubarak’s regime raised hopes that democracy would spread in the Middle East. However, those hopes soon turned to despair. The Syrian crisis and anarchy in Libya have quelled any optimistic view of democracy taking roots in the region. Klint Alexander, senior lecturer in Political Science and adviser to the UN on the Syrian crisis, will share his view on how to resolve the Syrian crisis and democracy’s role in its post-conflict future.

When: Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m.
Where: McTyeire International House, Fireside Lounge
