In Case of Emergency

Posted by on Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Archives, News.

In a campus emergency, wouldn-€™t you want to be in the know?

You can be. Just sign up for AlertVU, Vanderbilt-€™s emergency notification system atwww.vanderbilt.edu/alertvu.

If you are a returning student who is already subscribed, now would be a good time to check your emergency contact information to see if you need to update any numbers or e-mail addresses. Simply visitwww.vanderbilt.edu/alertvu and log in to make any necessary changes.

AlertVU will alert you to crisis situations on campus. This voluntary, free* service is offered as part of Vanderbilt-€™s goal to communicate emergency information quickly and in as many different ways as possible. AlertVU will only be used to notify you about potentially life-threatening situations such as a tornado headed for the campus or an active shooter on campus. Your information is private and will not be shared.

You can register for any combination or all of the following message options:

o      Text messages

o      E-mails

o      Phone calls (land lines or cell)

AlertVU is an addition to Vanderbilt-€™s emergency notification tools, which include campus crime alerts, mass e-mails, tornado sirens, etc. Those tools will continue to be used for the situations that warrant their use.

To register or find out more, visit the AlertVU Web site at  www.vanderbilt.edu/alertvu.

*There is no charge to receive AlertVU messages. If you choose to receive text messages, however, your cell phone carrier may charge you to receive them.
