
I’d say Thursday nights are great nights to have a fireside chat (in an old neighborhood fire station) with the guy who trained Obama in community organizing.

Whenever I think about all the things I want to do that I don’t technically have the time to do, returning to Guatemole.In.Guacamala. is at the top of the list, highlighted, triple-starred, circled in red marker.
For so long, I abstained from the indulgence of blogging, so I could have time to do “real things.” Things like apply to graduate school, do homework, get a summer job. But you know what? I’m a little weary of hearing my heart say it wants some things, but not giving my heart those things (quiet time with Jesus, less Rand-lunch-to-go and more lunch dates with sweet people I love, sleep … well, maybe that’s just my body). So I’m gonna start being a better listener of my heart’s own groanings and COME BACK TO BLOG WORLD YAHHH! I miss archiving my thoughts, being able to aesthetically capture little moments (and preserve them on the Internetz for forever and ever Amen).
I don’t know how often I’ll drop in. And I don’t even know if I’ll be talking to anyone in particular (since Guatemala is in my past, I doubt any of my summer reading buddies have stuck around!). Whether for embarrassment or nostalgia (or just the opportunity to say, “Daaang, 22-year-old Abby. You didn’t have a clue …”), this is for my future self.
Today, Ally Thompson, a sweet suitemate of mine, surprised me with a home-made, antique teacup candle. What a blessing she (and the other four girls I’ve been shacking up with this year) has been.

Since coming to Vanderbilt, Sloane has been involved in a variety of organizations that have allowed her to become in engaged in service on and off campus.
