Marc Fleming Jr. is a senior from Columbia, Maryland in the College of Engineering majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Marc's love for service began in Cub Scouts, and it continued to develop as he grew up in Boy Scouts, driving him to eventually earn his Eagle Scout Award. At school, Marc has been active outside of the classroom, serving as the President of the National Society of Black Engineers (Vanderbilt Chapter) and the President of the Kappa Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.

At Vanderbilt, Marc joined the Ingram Scholarship Program as a junior but quickly assimilated to the program. As a member of the program, Marc's idea of meaningful, impactful service has been challenged by various in-depth discussions and readings that he would not have come across without the Ingram Scholarship Program. Marc constantly looks for ways to connect his identity as a black male to service and allyship. He volunteered often at Second Harvest Food Bank, a local nonprofit that works to tackle food insecurity in Middle Tennessee. Marc also volunteered occasionally at Glencliff High School with NICE (Nashville International Center for Empowerment). It was here that Marc developed a passion to help empower refugees in Nashville.

This past summer, Marc completed his Ingram Summer Project with Legacy Mission Village, working to address the needs of refugees in Nashville. At Legacy Mission Village, Marc worked to expand the Journey Program for high school refugees. His summer endeavors resulted in new initiatives in the program that work to improve college and career readiness amongst high school refugees in South Nashville. He looks forward to volunteering with Legacy Mission Village his senior year.
