In high school, Cramer actively participated in several service activities
with his primary focus on service work in Central America. He worked two
summers with Jungle Medic Missions in Guatemala doing medical missions work.
He also worked with Samaritan's Purse in El Salvador distributing Christmas
shoe boxes to impoverished children, doing soccer camps, and participating
in medical clinics.
At Vanderbilt, Cramer organized a trip for ten, Vanderbilt students over
Spring Break to work with Jungle Medic Missions. There, the students worked
in Mayan Indian villages setting up free, medical clinics for the people. He
plans to continue making this opportunity available to the Vanderbilt
community and building a partnership between Jungle Medic Missions and
Vanderbilt University. Cramer also tutors a hispanic immigrant from El
Salvador in topics such as biology, algebra, and English. Cramer has a
passion for the Hispanic community in the States and abroad, and he hopes to
pursue this passion in several ways. He is currently researching youth
violence and gang issues in the local community and in Latin America. He
plans to work with at-risk youth in the community and initiate programs to
help change the cyclical nature of youth violence and poverty among the
hispanic community. In addition, Cramer is passionate about medicine and
using it to meet the physical needs of underpriviledged people.
After undergraduate study, Cramer plans to attend medical school.
Eventually, Cramer desires to do medical missions work part or full-time in
Latin America.
