Class of 2011
College of Arts and Science
Major: Medicine, Health, and Science
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Following the Jesuit tradition of “Men and Women for Others” of his high school, Kyle became involved in various service and leadership activities as a high school student. Finding great fulfillment in helping others, he hoped to spread a desire to serve to his fellow classmates by starting a home-building mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico his junior year. The trip was repeated his senior year, building a total of 5 homes for the homeless, incorporating 80 participants and fundraising $16,000.
The position of Vice President of Pastoral Activities on Student Council at his high school enabled Kyle to further attempt to develop a love for service among fellow students through prayer services about community outreach and global awareness, through service fairs, and through school-wide fundraisers.
With his interest spiked by the mission trip to Mexico, Kyle spent a month-long service sabbatical from school serving full-time in patient intake at La Clinica, a medical clinic serving the immigrant population in St. Louis.
Kyle cannot thank the Ingram family enough for their extreme generosity and is honored to be a part of the Ingram Program. As a first year at Vanderbilt, Kyle hopes to become involved in the Manna Project and explore the public health field, especially in relation to immigrants.
