Class of 2009
Peabody College
Major: Human and Organizational Development and English
Hometown: Lexington, KY
In high school, Brad’s service focused on his work at his public high school and efforts to improve the education conditions for all students. Along with two friends, he raised $30,000 for a renovation of the school’s landscape, providing a more welcoming atmosphere and a green space that all could appreciate.
Brad feels incredibly blessed to be a part of the Ingram Scholarship program. At Vanderbilt, Brad’s passion for kids and sports led him to focus on service through coaching soccer, first with an Under-5 Rec team, then with middle school, and finally, as a full-time Varsity Assistant Coach at the University School of Nashville. He has also served as Philanthropy Chair for his fraternity and in that role founded the Kickoff Cookoff, a Vanderbilt-wide benefit for Fannie Battle Day Home and has worked with Vanderbuddies and VU Dance Marathon. He spent summer 2006 on an Ingram Scholarship project as a counselor at a summer camp in Arkansas and then as a marine conservation volunteer with Humpback Whales in Praia do Forte, Brazil.
Service is a life-long journey and new and exciting challenges await Brad. He looks forward to working with the Campus for Human Development, a homeless outreach and advocacy center, and Best Buddies, a special-needs adult mentor program. |
