High School Applicants
Applying to be an Ingram Scholar (High School)

Students interested in being considered for the Ingram Scholarship Program must first apply for admission by submitting the Common Application, Coalition Application, QuestBridge Application, or the Universal College Application to Vanderbilt. Within two business days of submitting your application for admission to Vanderbilt, you should receive an email from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions explaining how to create your online MyAppVU account. Under the "Scholarship Application" option in MyAppVU, you will be able to select the signature program(s) to which you wish to apply. Through your MyAppVU portal, you will upload your responses for the scholarship applications as a PDF document and submit online. Once you submit your scholarship application online, you should receive immediate confirmation indicating the date of submission. You will also see a green check mark which indicates the application was submitted successfully. Applications for the Ingram Scholarship Program must be submitted by January 1, 2017 for prospective freshmen students.
Applicants will be asked to answer the following questions:
1. Describe your role (especially leadership) in your most sustained community service work. Please limit your response to 500 words.
2. Why do you engage in community service? Please limit your response to 500 words.
3. What do you hope to learn and study during your four years at Vanderbilt? Please limit your response to 500 words.
Be advised the Ingram Scholarship Program does not read applicants' Common Apps or supplemental admissions materials as a part of the evaluation process. Unsolicited items, such as artwork, portfolios, recordings (CDs, DVDs, etc) will not be reviewed.
Students applying to the Ingram Scholarship Program must also submit two letters of recommendation . Learn more here. Be on the lookout for an automatically generated confirmation email once your recommender has submitted his or her letter. PLEASE NOTE: If an Ingram Scholarship Program recommendation letter is submitted by a registered recommender prior to the submission of your Ingram Scholarship Program application in MyAppVU, the recommendation letter status will update in MyAppVU 3-5 business days after you submit your Ingram Scholarship application via your MyAppVU account.
Over the past five years, the total number of high school applicants has been just over 4500 and we have made 62 scholarship offers, or 12-13 per year (on average).
