Banking Information

It is not necessary to have a bank account in Nashville. However, representatives from local banks are present on campus during the first few days of first year programs to assist students with their banking needs.

You may want to seek assistance from your home bank representative about what services they may provide, while considering an account at home or in Nashville (bank card fees, transferring funds to a student's account, etc). Two Nashville banks, Sun Trust (888-390-BANK) and AmSouth (800-AmSouth), have offered toll free numbers available 24 hours a day for inquiries about their services. You may also visit their websites at Sun Trust and at AmSouth for more information.

Students may cash checks of up to $100 at the University Bookstore. The Medical Center cashier's office and local groceries will cash checks with the student's driver license and Commodore Card. Several SunTrust ATMs are located on campus. An ATM at the Sarratt Student Center is centrally located. Sun Trust and AmSouth have full-service branches within walking distance of campus.
