Internationals
Vanderbilt University and Medical Center values a culturally diverse workforce. In order to successfully meet its mission of healing, teaching, and research it depends on the skills and contributions from the International faculty and staff. Of the nearly 15,500 faculty and staff at Vanderbilt an estimated 7%-10% are Internationals.


Vanderbilt offers a service to all faculty and staff called the . It is a Program staffed by professional counselors who help faculty and staff members deal with personal stressors that influence their lives. Often this help consists of listening to the employee and directing them to community resources. It may help the employee just to talk about a problem and have someone else listen to them offering some suggestions. This is what the does. There is no charge to the employee for these services. They are part of the Vanderbilt benefits.

Diversity in the workforce is an asset.
Cultural diversity can add depth and dimension to a department. It also poses areas that can be challenging for the International employee, the supervisor and non-International coworkers. The following handouts are designed to stimulate some thinking and provide some tips for faculty and staff.
