Clinical Services: Assessment and Counseling |

Assessment: A good assessment is the key to working out a plan for a successful solution. Our initial appointment is approximately an hour long. During that time we gather information from you about the reason you are seeking our services and gather some information to get to know you better. You may also be asked to complete a symptom questionnaire. During this Assessment Interview, we want to determine the nature of the problem and arrive at a plan as to how to best help. Then the Counselor will work with you to resolve the problem or provide a referral. Counseling: This plan may involve returning for additional information gathering or few counseling sessions to help you process your issues. offers short –term counseling (up to 4-5 sessions) and will make a referral to a community provider if the issues are such that longer term therapy are indicated. The Counselor may be in the best position to help with a workplace issue knowing how Vanderbilt works whereas you may prefer to share more in depth personal issues with a Linking to Community Resources: The match between a therapist and the client is the most important predictor of a good outcome. The Counselor may make a referral to a mental health provider, who has an expertise in dealing with your specific issues, is covered on your insurance plan and practices in a location that is acceptable given your specific circumstances. |
