Policies and ProceduresScanning of Slides & Print Media for Inclusion in the Digital Image CollectionThe Vanderbilt Digital Image Collection is a university-wide resource for teaching and research in the visual arts. The database is carefully maintained so that duplication of images does not occur. In addition, each image is spotted, color-corrected, and optimized for projection. Faculty and students of Vanderbilt University are welcome to bring in material for entry into our image database. Once archived, the image will be available for educational use (classroom presentations or personal study) through our Digital Image Collection, MDID at Vanderbilt, and PowerPoint. In order to maintain the high quality of images in our Digital Image Collection, the History of Art Visual Resources Center has established procedures regarding the scanning of slides and photographs for the entry into the database.
Please allow two weeks to process any request. Scanning for entry into the Digital Image Collection is prioritized according to time-sensitive needs. The VRC staff takes into consideration deadlines for classroom lectures, public presentations, and publications and scans according to imminent need. For full course archiving, please contact Chris Strasbaugh, Visual Resources Curator, for special instructions. Licensing of Commercial ImagesFaculty may also request that commercial images from vendors such as Saskia, Ltd., Hartill Art Associates, Davis Art Images, etc. be licensed for inclusion in our Digital Image Collection. If you would like to make such a request, please contact Chris Strasbaugh, Visual Resources Curator. Please see our Copyright Policy for specific information regarding rights to images in the Digital Image Collection.
