Schulman Center Facilities

The Ben Schulman Center for Jewish Life provides a number of facilities and services for Vanderbilt students. The ground floor of the building houses Grins, a Kosher vegetarian Cafi. This restaurant has a menu that changes daily and is now one option on the Vanderbilt Dining Dinner Plan. Some of the most popular items include the wide variety of paninis, the peanut butter, the banana and granola wrap and the delicious freshly made soups.

A large social lounge in the front of the building provides a space for students to relax and socialize. It is common for students to wind down after a day of class by playing a game of pool on the billiard table. This room is the typical location for most Hillel dinners, social gatherings and informal discussions.

The large multipurpose space on the ground floor doubles as a sanctuary and performance venue. It features a movable ark containing two Torah scrolls, a grand piano and a raised stage on the western wall. Using this stage, Vanderbilt Hillel has hosted plays, lectures, movie screenings and concerts.

The second floor of the building houses a classroom, offices and a library. The upstairs library contains hundreds of donated books on a broad range of Jewish topics. This space provides a quiet location for students to study when the ground floor is busy.
