Honorary Board of Governors

The central challenge of Vanderbilt Hillel and its Board of Directors is to provide engaging and meaningful Jewish experiences for the many young Jews who attend and will be attending Vanderbilt University. Vanderbilt Hillel requires additional programming dollars to support the increase demand of student interests and projects. In order to help provide Vanderbilt’s campus Jewish community the resources to become more active, the Board of Directors has established an Honorary Board of Governors that will be an essential part of establishing a Jewish future of hope and possibility on the Vanderbilt campus. The Vanderbilt Hillel Honorary Board of Governors will assist the Board of Directors in meeting the following three objectives:

  • To increase Hillel’s annual budget from over the next five years by soliciting multi-year gifts;
  • To advocate on Hillel’s behalf in a variety of community settings; and,
  • To assist Hillel in reaching its global financial and programmatic objectives.

Financial and Time Requirements: Members of the Vanderbilt Hillel Honorary Board of Governors will be expected to make a minimum commitment of $5,000 per year to the annual campaign over a minimum period of three years. Some leading members of the Honorary Board will, hopefully, commit amounts of $10,000 or more. There will be one meeting a year of the Honorary Board to review the global issues facing Hillel and Jewish life at Vanderbilt University. Key members of the University administration, including Interim Chancellor Nick Zeppos, and leading members of the faculty involved in Jewish campus life and Jewish Studies will address the Board at its annual meeting.

Our current Board of Governors Chair is Russ Robinson, AS '79, who is also a member of Hillel's Board of Directors. We ask that you consider joining him on his mission to ensure the future of Vanderbilt Hillel. If you are interested, please contact Ari Dubin at 615-322-8376 or ari.dubin@vanderbilt.edu.
