Welcome New Commodores!

Congratulations on your decision to attend Vanderbilt University! As you prepare to begin a new chapter in your life, we want to encourage you to consider participating in one of our 35 fraternities or sororities. Our Greek community is comprised of 46% of the undergraduate students, and continues to be a strong and vibrant component of the larger university community.

The Vanderbilt Greek community is proud of its history and equally excited about the future. Our fraternities and sororities are looking for men and women who will contribute to our organizations, the campus, and the Nashville community. Despite what you may hear or see on television, Greek Life is more than just a party scene. It is a balance of scholarship, service, social, and sisterhood/brotherhood. Greeks at Vanderbilt consistently achieve higher academic standings than our peers, and participate in a variety of other campus organizations and events.

We also invite you to learn more about the leadership, philanthropic and service opportunities that fraternities and sororities provide both on campus, and within the Nashville area. Many of the leadership positions on campus are held by Greeks. Fraternity and sorority members at Vanderbilt donated over $348,720 to charitable organizations last year, and participated in over 63,000 hours of community service.

Your first opportunity to explore Greek Life will be August 21 at 3:00 pm on The Commons Lawn. We will give you more information about our various organizations, and how to become a member at that event.

We look forward to meeting you all in August!
