For Advisors & Alumni

With a Greek community that is over 150 years old, we have over 25,000 living Greek alumni who have graduated from Vanderbilt and gone on to excel in politics, business, education, industry & technology, medicine, law, entertainment and sports. Continued involvement and support from alumni reinforces that membership is for a lifetime!

As a part of the Vanderbilt University Fraternity & Sorority Standards all chapters are expected to meet the following areas related to alumni involvement:

  • Chapter has an active alumni/ae advisory board or graduate chapter advisor(s)
  • Chapter hosts at least one event for or with alumni/ae each year. Examples include but are not limited to a Homecoming Tailgate or Founder's Day Celebration that is publicized and open to all alumni/ae
  • Chapter communicates with chapter alumni/ae via newsletters, emails, websites, or other useful means at least once each semester

Advisory support is critical to the success of the Greek community at Vanderbilt. During the 2007-2008 year, the Greek community will be increasing our focus on advisor involvement with chapters. Throughout the fall semester, Greek Life staff, student leaders and national/regional organization representatives will be hosting advisor information receptions to educate alumni about involvement opportunities in individual chapters. In the early spring semester an Advisor Training Workshop will be held where all chapters should be represented. Additional information is forthcoming about the details of the workshop.

Chapters with consistent alumni involvement tend to be our best chapters. If you are interested in getting involved as an advisor to any of our chapters, please contact Kristin Torrey, Director of Greek Life - kristin.torrey@vanderbilt.edu

Giving to Vanderbilt

Alumni, parents and friends have the opportunity to provide financial support to their fraternity or sorority by giving to Vanderbilt.
