Canada’s Top Flight Company, KIDD PIVOT
Launches Great Performances Dance Season with Lost Action
Nashville, TN—Thursday, September 24, 7:30pm, Ingram Hall—Great Performances at Vanderbilt brings the unrestrained genius of Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite and her seven member performing team to Vanderbilt in a dramatic and provocative showing of Lost Action. Lost Action “begins as an analysis of the articulated and amazing body, and unfolds to reveal the human element at the center of the work.” Danced to an original score, Kidd Pivot investigates the implications of movement in Lost Action.
Kidd Pivot integrates movement, text, and visual design, and the company fuses one media with another, mixing an old style against new. This combination results in an unforgettable show, and one that promises, as the Virginia Gazette wrote, “….brilliant concepts and flawless execution…dance that pulsed with emotion and left the viewer exhausted and exhilarated.”
A Master Class with Crystal Pite will be offered the evening prior to the main stage performance, Wednesday, September 23 at 5:30pm in Memorial Gymnasium with the Vanderbilt Dance Program. Call 322.2471 for more information. The Master Class is free and open to all dance program participants–$12 for non-dance program participants.
