Below are some of the more commonly used faculty resources that can be found online.
- The Registry is a listing of all Vanderbilt staff, faculty, and administration.
- The Faculty Manual is a guide to University policies and procedures and is published by the Office of the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel.
- The most recent version of the Graduate School Catalog is maintained here.
- The DGS Handbook describes the role of the Director of Graduate Studies as to activities within the program and the Graduate School Administration.
- The Electronic Theses and Dissertations Database allows access to all Theses and Dissertations that have been submitted electronically.
Change in Curriculum
The Request for Change in Graduate School Curriculum (
) form should be used for one of three things: add information to the current course listing for a course, change the current course description for a course, or delete a course. Please return form to Barry Kendall, 411 Kirkland Hall.
PhD Committee
As outlined in the Academic Regulations section of the Graduate School Catalog please follow the following guidelines in order to appoint a Ph.D. committee. "The (qualifying) examination is conducted by a Ph.D. committee appointed by the Graduate School on advice of the chair or director of graduate studies of the program. The committee consists of not fewer than four members of the Graduate Faculty. Three of the members must be graduate faculty from within the student’s department/program and one from outside the program. Any variation of the committee makeup must be approved by the Graduate School. The committee must be appointed by the Graduate School no less than two weeks before the time the student expects to take the qualifying examination." Qualifying Examination
As outlined in the Academic Regulations section of the Graduate School Catalog please follow these guidelines in preparation for Qualifying Examinations. "The chair of the Ph.D. committee or the director of graduate studies of the program, after consultation with the candidate, shall notify the Graduate School in advance of the place and time of the examination and the title of the dissertation. This should be done no later than two weeks prior to the examination." The Request to Schedule Qualifying Exams form is available in Microsoft Word (
