At the beginning of the 2008-2009 academic year, Richard McCarty, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, charged a Task Force to examine that progress and to recommend steps that might be taken to ensure that it continues. That Task Force consisted of four area-focused subcommittees: Biological and Biomedical Sciences; Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics; Humanities; and Social Sciences and Education.
