Top Reasons Why Students Choose GPED

  • Course Flexibility. GPED student programs are individualized according to their particular needs. Students may take electives which relate to their programs such as business and finance courses from the Owen Graduate School of Management; Management of Technology courses in the Engineering School; International Education Policy courses from Peabody College; courses from Latin American Studies, Sociology, and Political Science.
  • Alumni Network. Since its beginning in 1956, the program has maintained a strong network of alumni from more than 120 countries.
  • Field Trips and Seminars. During an 8-day trip to Washington D.C., GPED students visit the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Federal Trade Commission and Bureau of Labor Statistics, among others.
  • Free Tutoring and Editing services. GPED students are provided with tutoring and editing services at no additional charge.
  • Vanderbilt Community. The Commons, Sarratt Student Center, the Student Recreation Center, as well as other facilities, are user friendly and easily accessible.
  • Class Size. There are typically 8 to 25 persons in courses offered to GPED students.
  • Program Assistance. GPED staff provide general assistance to students including airport pick-up and help with locating suitable housing and furnishings. The International Student and Scholar Services staff are happy to answer questions regarding visas and immigration status, work permits, and Optional Practical Training.
  • Job Opportunities on campus. There are work study and non-work study opportunities for students on campus. Some jobs commonly held by our students are in the Student Recreation Center, Residence Life, or the University Libraries.
  • Nashville. Vanderbilt University is located in a beautiful and safe city with mild climate and moderate living expenses. The population is approximately one million.
