The Vanderbilt-In-Germany Program offers a variety of cultural events and trips to the surrounding area. Located along the picturesque Danube valley close to the Bavarian Forrest, Regensburg is an ideal ‘base camp’ for further explorations. Hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities are a great way to get in touch with nature and to get to know the region. Train rides to Nuremberg (1 hour), Munich (1.5 hours), Passau (1 hour, 20 minutes), and Frankfurt (3 hours) are easy and will be pleasant and unforgettable experiences as well as trips to other cities outside of Germany, such as Prague (4-5 hours), Vienna (4-5 hours), and Budapest (7 hours), to name just a few.
