Vanderbilt in Regensburg

Building confidence in foreign language communication is a major goal of the Vanderbilt-In-Germany program in Regensburg. Students learn to succeed in complex situations abroad and enrich their knowledge far beyond campus limits. The Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages gladly supports living and studying in a beautiful, medieval Bavarian city.  The program runs six month, from January to July, and includes a two-month long intensive class in German followed by a full Sommersemester at the University of Regensburg with access to courses in all disciplines.

During the classes in German, students are assisted in discussion sections (tutorials). The courses will be granted Vanderbilt credit and count as transfer credit at other colleges, too. Housing will be provided in university residence halls together with German students. In addition, an extensive cultural-events calendar with trips, for example, to Berlin will provide an impression of the history and rich cultural life.
Vanderbilt University offers students in conjunction with Wesleyan University and Wheaton College the experience of German language and culture first hand. The program is supervised by a faculty member (from either Vanderbilt University,Wesleyan University, or Wheaton College) who serves as a resident director and is available to students throughout their stay abroad.
