Brett Sterling -brett.e.sterling@vanderbilt.edu
I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BA in German and European Studies in 2005. During my undergraduate studies I participated in the Colorado/Vanderbilt exchange in Regensburg, Germany in 2003-04, which inspired me to continue on to graduate school at Vanderbilt. I began my graduate studies at Vanderbilt in the fall of 2005, and I received my MA in German in May 2007. In 2008 I received the Gisela Mosig Graduate Fellowship, which funded a year of research and study in Berlin at the Humboldt Universität. My main interests are in 19th and 20th century German literature, Modernism, the concept of the City, and minority issues in contemporary Germany. I also have strong interests in Russian language and literature, Comparative literature, and film. I will also be chairing a panel, titled "Beyond the Russendisko: Multicultural Berlin Today", at the 2010 ACTFL national conference in Boston.
